If you are living in Germany a year or longer, buying a BahnCard probably saves money on train trips. Usually the options to consider are the cards with 25 % and 50 % discount, Bahncard25 and BahnCard50 for the second class. Deutsche Bahn has the current prices and all the details.

You can buy a BahnCard in the main railway station (Am Hauptbahnhof, 66111 Saarbrücken).

Gelber Sack

Gelber Sack is a "yellow bag" for recycling many kinds of packaging (the details are printed in the bag). They are distributed at Bürgeramt (see above). The bags are collected every other week (on Thursdays in downtown). There are no separate trash bins for Gelber Sack. Instead, they are collected in neat heaps outdoors, a day or two before they are picked up. Keep your eyes open in your neighborhood to find the locations.
